Short-lived perennial, usually 2 years in the South, but may survive only as an annual in Zone A. Erect growing, leafy plants 2 to 3 feet tall. Leaves hairy and marked with a white 'V'. Flowers are clustered into large pinkish-violet heads. Major uses are hay and pasture. Seed are planted on prepared land and 6 to 8 lb/A in drill rows or 12 to 15 lb/A broadcast during September-October in Zones A, B, C and D only. Established grass pastures should be overseeded in October-November or February-March.
