Fall Maintenance
Overseeding with a cool-season turfgrass variety will enable you to enjoy an attractive lawn well into the fall and early winter months.
September is the month for most climates to begin preparing your lawn for fall and winter weather.
Start two to three weeks before overseeding by closely inspecting your lawn. If you have a lot of weeds, spray them with a herbicide to eliminate weed competition. After waiting for the herbicide to work on an established lawn, cut the grass as low as possible and aerate or de-thatch the lawn before overseeding.
Fall is also an ideal time if you're establishing a new lawn.
